It’s no secret that the 4th quarter of the year is huge in the retail and apparel industries. With several holiday’s being celebrated and almost every sport being played, people are looking to buy and spend money. This is a great thing for merchants. Even though you’ll probably see a good uptick in sales regardless of your strategy, there are a few things you can do to maximize your sales and really crush it in Q4. The next few blog posts will help cover many of these strategies and techniques.
The number one piece of advice we can offer is to START NOW! It’s already October and Q4 is already underway. People are starting to think about what to get their friends and family for the holidays. This is a great time to get out in front of their purchases and get your designs and products in front of your customers. By doing this, they start thinking about your products well before its time to buy, but especially when it comes time to make the purchase. A solid way to get things roiling is to start sharing your products on social media. This is a great way to get your products seen and give people an idea of what a great gift could be for someone. You only have a couple months to convert people from being interested into becoming customers.
This is also a good time to think about running specials or giving discounts. It may give people the extra incentive to buy early and get some of their shopping done now rather than waiting until the last minute. This route can also be a great opportunity as you move into the Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday timeframe. Running specials during this time period will make your products and pricing more attractive during an extremely active purchasing period. In just those few days you can do hundreds or thousands of dollars’ worth of sales.
Another thing to keep in mind is the production and shipping times before Christmas. You want to make sure you have enough of a buffer before Dec. 25th that will ensure people get the products by then. Having a guaranteed deadline will not only give your potential customers a sense of urgency, but will make them confident the gift will be ready to go when it’s needed.
We will be talking about more things you can do in the next few blog posts, but you need to start doing some marketing now to make things move along better when things really start to pick up.
